I have a 2000 TJ. I want to do a lift but from what I read the difference between 3 and 4 is 4 has a lot more parts that will be needed, which means more money that I don't have. Is this true? And if I go 3" will 33's work? Any info would be great......JEEP ON
Yes.. You can always check the website of the manufacture of the lift kit for recommendations..
A ton of people suggest the zone 4.25"..
I went with Rough Country.. I did the 4" (short story is my goal is to get to 35's short man syndrome) my wife did the 3.25" which was very reasonably priced..about $350 ish....
So if I go with the zone, I'm only looking at suspension parts and body? Sounds good. What's the ride like, and what does that set up run price wise? Right now I have the 2" (puck) lift, and its pretty stiff. You feel every little bump
If you go with the Zone 4.25 combo lift and add a Metalcloak front adjustable track bar (highly recommended) you're looking at the $800 range for the complete thing. It's a really well thought out kit and provides a very good ride. Probably the best bang for the buck lifts going. Depends on your driving whether you will need a 3 or 4 inch lift for 33s.
Looks to me like you already have (low-profile street) tires at least 33" in diameter, so if you have no issues currently with your 2" pucks, going to 33" A/Ts or M/Ts should not present a problem. The only other concern would be width of the tire and your wheel offset.
Water Dog pretty much nailed it. That's definitely the recommended setup for a solid budget lift. I run the zone 3" lift which is the same as the 4.25" without the body lift and I have no problems with it. The ride is great and off-road performance is better than expected. I recommend zone lifts from experience. I also have the Metalcloak front adjustable track bar which is a very solid, beefy track bar. It's the recommended one on the forum and it's pretty evident why
