4" with BB???

I've got an 01 TJ with a 2"BB and am looking to get a 4" kit for it. I haven't been able to find any specific threads on this but I was thinking of keeping the 2" BB on in addition to the 4". Anyone ever tried this? Good/bad idea? If you guys think it would work what things should I keep in mind as far as problems that could arise from doing this? Thanks for all of the help!

actually I am thinking about doing the same thing. I haven't found any problem with doing this except for you might need longer shocks and definitely longer brake lines.

Yes you can do it. However, you need adj control arms as well. Also this is really pushing the limits of a short arm lift. Thus it may be more prone to dw etc. pic below is RE 4.5 and 2" BB in front w/ 35's/

That looks awesome! I don't have very extreme trails around here so a longarm is not necessary, however, I'm still looking for the 6" without the longarm price (times are tough you know!). 4Jeepn, how bad/if any DW do you get? Can you guys think of a way to limit or eliminate the DW without getting a longarm and still staying relatively low cost?

P.S. Thanks for all the help between posts and PM's! That's one reason I love this site!

I was thinking about throwing 2" spacers in the front and 1" spacers in the rear of my 3" lift. I have a 1" spacer in the front now and have no problems. Im going to be ordering a new front track bar because my FT one is a p.o.s. so maybe Ill look into new ca's while Im at it.

how's the ride on that rough country? I've seen both negative and positive reviews so far and a buddy of mine has one. He's had his for about 2 years and it's still doing good but I'm just looking for as much input as I can get to make an informed decision. Thanks again!

Not only makes the ride more rough but you are 99.5% sure going to have to get the SYE and CVD.Anything more than 4"s and the T-case drop will not compensate for the angel. You could try MML and TC drop combined but SYE and CVD is really the only way to got with more than 4"s of lift.

I'm getting a set of 34x10.50's on the stock wheels so there won't be any backspacing. Do you guys think 4" total would be enough to make room for the rubber? I've got AC so a BL is a little difficult at best and I really don't like BL's to start with but if I have to throw in a 1 or 2" BL to fit the tires than so be it. I'm trying to keep from having to do the SYE so it looks like making it 6" might not be a good idea.

I got a 4" lift and 1.25" BL and can clear 35s with ease so I am pretty sure you can clear 34s with the 4" only. The only thing that is harder for the BL with AC is the fact you have to lower the radiator and the AC lines have to be bent and pulled away from the new location of the radiator but not all that hard.I personally would go with the 1" BL and 1" MML and you dont have to move the radiator.

only question is that if you do actually use it off road are your going to be stuffing your tires and tearing up your fenders if you go that route...

Over all off road it works fine. No issues. Adj the bumpstops of course. My Death Wobble issue's where due to running swampers and the maxed out short arms, which I feel magnified the vibs from the swampers. Flat smooth road, 65mph no issue. Bumpy road/uneven payment.. things could get bad really fast. I also didn't run a rear sway bar.. again this jeep was mostly for trail. Had same sort of the same setup on two other jeeps, one mine one a buddy's no DW issues as they ran AT tires on the street.
