not much help for pics but IMO a VERY WELL SUPPORTED CAGE!!! By using the smaller tube, I think it would need more tie ins but it could be done with that much tube at hand

eeeehhhhhhhh rereading OP...may not be the best Idea...thought it was thicker wall..not sure if you could tie in enough supports to be worth while......

Carrier portion of a rear bumper maybe? Rack above spare or roof rack, tube doors. If ya run with no back seat could fashion a basket/shelf?

1 3/4" x .120 is thick enough to make a cage for any vehicle with a weight under 4000 lbs, according to race (SCORE/BITD) standards. Depending on what else he's got on the Jeep, that would be okay. However, he may not have enough tube to do it right.

I would use it to practice bending. Maybe make a front bumper stinger or bumper lightbar.

REALLY??? I didn't know...thought it would need to be 2.5" or 3" to be "strong enough" and with a thicker wall... .125" doesn't seem like much...again I learn so much from this Forum!!

As long as it's DOM or 4130, 1-3/4" x .120 should be fine. My race car will be made from 1-3/4" x .095, and will come in around 2500 lbs.

The highest required is 2"x .120 for 4000 lbs or greater, that's what all the Trophy Trucks are using. As long as the cage is built correctly, that is plenty.

Okay since I am truly learning....why does it seem that most cages are 2.5 or 3"? Or is it a misconception on my part? I never actually measured any cages......or am I "right" but maybe it isn't DOM..and I do understand how that tube is stronger (DOM) from the process...but didn't realize it made that big of a difference.....

It's possible that it's not DOM or 4130. It's possible that they're just going overkill (overkill is underrated). It's possible that some is misconception on your part, unless I measure something I can't usually get close to what size it actually is.

A lot of it may be the way the cage is built. Our cages, at least the main, driver containing portion, have a specific way which they have to be built. Two hoops, either A-Pillar to A-Pillar and B-Pillar to B-Pillar or Two A-Piller to B-Pillar, with certain cross braces in between the two hoops.

If the design of the cage has all of these things (which make more sense with a drawing I don't have available), then the tubing I mentioned above is fine. If you don't have all these, to get the same amount of strength, you're going to need stronger tubing.

Okay thanks that makes sense
