42rle popped out of 1st...

...last night, I threw it in 4lo and it caught again, does that have anything to do with the torque converter or is that the 42rle death rattle?

I'm confused. The 42RLE is an automatic transmission and I've never seen an automatic pop out of 1st gear. Did you mean to say your NP231 transfer case is popping out of 4Lo or 4Hi?

No, it didn't really pop, more of a slip in 2wd. There was no power to the wheels, I tried throwing it from d to 1 to 2 and nothing, finally i put it in 4 hi and I got power back to the wheels, I put it back in 2wd and she did fine after that. No problems today but I'm concerned about getting stuck somewhere.

Sounds like a tc problem, not a tranny problem.

Would anything cause a transfer case to do that?

K,
Driving in 2hi
Lost power to rear wheels, engine would rev but nothing pushing me along.
Put it in 4hi and got power to all wheels.
Put it back into 2hi and still had power.

It's hard to describe without it coming across confusing. Sorry.

Oh from your first post I thought you meant it caught when you threw it in 4lo as in it came loose. But you mean as in you got power back. Okay.
