44 front or just super my 30

I saw G2 gear and axel has a dana 44 with shafts, locker, gears and whole assembly for 2600 on 4wheel parts. now i could do that without a new housing for 1600 on my stock dana 30. do u think the 44 is really better or just stick with my stock 30 and super it...? orrr get a HP 30 have a couple round my area i could pick up for 150... and then super it?

Just wondering i got the breaks already and running 35s on 4.56 gears so i would just keep my gears in the long run and maybe truss my 30

Any opinions would be great...

I still push it hard on stock carrier but worried more about shafts

Drive it till it breaks.
But in the mean time buy and build the 44.

well the 44 is already completely assembled so as long as i dont break a knuckle it will stay the same price

I doubt you break a knuckle. Unless you crack something hard.
May want to look into the high mount steering though..

I would say go with the HP30 if you can get them cheap and are only going to stick to the 35's. I have a HP30 and broke the C section of the axle but that was because I was out in the Mohjave going a little too fast for a whoops section. It was all my fault and not the axle though. I run 4.88s with 35's Lunchbox locker and truss and C gussets now and haven't had a problem with it.

It just depends on how hard you wheel it and what kind of money you want to spend.

The HP D30 is hard to beat, plenty of extremely well built TJs upgrade to that axle. Its high-pinion design allows the R&P to run on its stronger side plus it puts the driveshaft up higher so it's more out of harm's way.

With alloy shafts, that'd be a good strong setup. With 30 spline alloy shafts, it be a really exceptionally strong setup.

Later model XJs are a good source for high-pinion front Dana 30 axles. I believe '96-99 are probably the best years, it was '96 (maybe '95 like the YJ) I think when that particular axle went to the larger 297 u-joint size. They are a bolt-in for the TJ's front low-pinion Dana 30.

Yeah i like the HP 30 idea! Would u put a truss in and other than ARB what would be ur choice locker for a Dana 30 daily Driver

Ahh I just call it a D30. LOL

I've been contemplating putting one in my YJ, but I crawled under a 97 XJ yesterday at the salvage yard to steal the front drive shaft, and was like, Hmm.. that would be a LOT of work...
