4banger dies on me!!

Here's the deal. My buddy nick drives a 2000 tj4banger d30/35,4.10's 5spd we went offroading this past weekend nothing serious till the last hole we pulled him through. Now all of a sudden it tries to stall out when he stops and go over speed bumps. And randomly it died on the road. Anyone have a prognosis?

Did you check the seating in the spark plugs? I had a car once that blew a head gasket, and had dripped oil into one of my spark plugs. Consequently it had unseated one of the spark plugs, and when i would slow down and make uturns it would stall out (this was an automatic my first an only), so obviously should not be stalling.

Anyway when i checked i found that, cleaned the plug and housing, plugged it back in, and voila, never stalled out again.

Hopefully just got some mud or gook up there and thats whats happening to you too. Good luck!

We checked out the sparkplugs. No problems cleaned them and s put them back. Ran fine then it dies out in the middle of his complex. I'm going back after class to help diagnose the problem . The tj took a hard semi nosedive into the hole. Nothing came loose all fuel lines are in place fuel system is good so is electical no error codes.

how bout the plug wires/distributor. a cracked distributor cap did that to my firebird

domt forget to take the cap off andcheck the rotor inside the distributor too. my firebird had a small crack in the cap thats what caused mine to do that

I agree with both of these. It seems most likely to be something with the spark plug/ distributor systems because usually if its dieing at low speed or rpms is because one of the cylinders isn't firing. At higher speeds and rpms this doesn't effect it but at low rpms is when it would.

Ummm....there should be a gas relay that shuts off the engine in the case of an accident. I'm not sure that this would apply in this situation, but I suspect it could. If it senses the "collision", it might just shut off the gas pump. The sudden jarring of the sensor could shut the whole thing down.
