4WD Indicator light does not work

Hey men

Just what the subject says.... it dont work.

Didnt get to take much of a look at it yet. Is there a switch down on the front axle like on the YJ's or what. Also, if the bulb is burned, how do you get the plastic bezel off the covers the guages to fix the light?

It is a 04 TJ Unlimited if it matters. You can tell it engages firmly in 4wd but the light dont want to come on. Would like to fix it.

Thanks
Tyler

The 4x4 light switch is located inside the transfer case and its connector is located on top of the transfer case on the passenger side.

If it is like most things on a Jeep, it will start working again. When I put in a new transmission a few months ago the 4WD light would not work when I was done. For a week I checked and rechecked all the connections. All looked and were hooked up right. a few days later I put it in 4WD to pull the front up on ramps to do some work and the light worked. It has worked ever since.

Hold the mileage trip reset button and turn key to on, the gauges and lights will go through a self test. Watch for the "part time" to light up, if it does then its got to be somewhere between light bulb and transfer case, if not its just the bulb

Yeah... I dont need the light to know when it is engaged either and it hasnt worked for years too.... but..... I WANT IT TO WORK!

When you own trucks, and depend on them and yourself for a living, your not satisfied until every little thing is in proper order. The tiniest little thing such as an ABS light being on inside the dash of my Pete is enough to get wrote up on a 100.00 dollar DOT fine.

That tends to carry into my own personal vehicles too. Everything on that vehicle better be in working order, and if it is not, then I am not satisfied with it.

Im not as dumb as I sound.....Some of you guys are alot of help, lol

Just about to buy a used '04 LJ and the light isn't coming on. Will try this fix soon. Here is hoping it works.
