6-speed tranny

I have a '98 wrangler with a 5spd manual tranny. i think its called an ax-15? but i was wondering what year wranglers started coming with the 6spd manual and what its called. And i'm also not much of a mechanic so could I swap my 5 speed for a 6 speed?

The NV3550 is a stronger transmission and its direct bolt in. The NSG370 isn't impossible to make work but not exactly direct bolt in. I'll take that AX-15 off your hands though.

How about a google search for AX-15 to NSG370

Hah bud I'm just wishful thinkin right now I don't think I could manage that right now. Just curious though, what would you be using my ax-15 for?

Haha...I'm considering challenging myself. I'd like to replace my AX-5 with the AX-15. Which happens to be quite a job, but I believe it would be a fun mod and worthwhile as my anemic 2.5 could never hurt the AX-15.

Its wishful thinking also, but my AX-5 has got 100,000 miles on it and although it is in decent shape, its gonna go eventually and I would much prefer the AX-15's bulletproof reputation.

well I wish I could help but I can't afford to change my transmission out right now... I will keep my eyes out for an AX-15 for you!
