8 years and time for a new Top

Well after 8 years of use the soft top on the 2002 has zipper malfunctions. Time for a new one. Problem is there are way too many choices. I know Besttop is one of the best, and from what I have heard the sailcloth is the best materials. But man how many style choices do you need? We have a hard top we use in the winter, so it is just for summer we also have the full steel doors. Can anyone help me decide whether to go with just a replacement, or maybe one of the ones that has a flip up sunroof style or bikini style? I just am not sure which would be the best choice not only for durability or functionality.

I would just get the Bestop Sailcloth Replace-A-Top.

X2. You already have the hardware installed for it so it is the logical choice. Bikini tops are a nice accessory, but only provide limited protection from the elements.

I got the sailcloth replacement for my 97 so it was actually an upgrade. I've had the top since 03 and it's still in great condition. Worth the $!

Yep, either the R-A-T or a Bowless top..... If you went bowless you could sell your frame to help offset the cost.

That's true. A lot of people don't take things like that into account when they make a big purchase item. I always try to figure in my head what I can get for my replaced item when I buy a new one. Maybe that's just my way of justifying some of my purchases, though!!

Personally I would stick with the Bestop brand. When my top on my 97 wore out I bought a half cab top and I was not happy with the quality. I ended up replacing that with a Bestop Sunrider. I am very happy with my top. I don't use the sunrider part of the top as much as others but it is nice at the end of the day to be able to flip open the top and let the heat escape since I don't have ac. Another plus about Bestop is that they stand behind their product and no, I don't work for them.
