'97 2.5L Auto noob questions

Just got my first Jeep and am very excited about joining such a great community.
"Jimmy" is a teal 4 banger auto with 31x10.5 with 100k miles on him.
Not planning on doing a lift or going bigger on tires, just wondering what are some things that I should look at or do to keep him going another 100k.

I might take him on a few trails every now and then but rare at best. Mostly just driving around town, and in Jacksonville we have lots of bridges with steep inclines.

Is regearing needed for the 31's?

The tranny seems to shift rather quickly (3k rpm's) which sucks trying to go up the bridges, is that normal?

I have read many posts about the air intakes and glad I didn't go out and buy anything. Thanks Jerry for your input through the threads
