97 Common Problems?

I missed out on my previous buy and am looking at a 97 Wrangler Sport with auto transmission. I was wondering if there are any common problems to look for. It has 94,000 miles on it and looks like new. Original paint too. I want to put a hitch on it (it never had one) I assume I can get a wire harness plug for that, right? It has a soft top on it and comes with a hard top as well.

I LOVED my '97 TJ (stolen 3 years ago), & I later converted it to use the same automatic transmission that one has already. That's a good model year. Yes there is a plug-in trailer harness wiring kit for the '97 which I installed into mine.

There were a few minor issues with the '97 that I'm sure were taken care of by now... they came with a catalytic converter that tended to break up internally & their radiators tended to leak. But you can bet by now the previous owner replaced them already

Good luck with it, I would trade my current '04 for a '97.
When you have a choice, buy American.
