97 Sport Interior Project

So I decided to get rid of the Mist Grey interior in my jeep! Couldn't stand the color anymore. When I was pulling it all off I noticed the frame for the dash was starting to rust, it was really bad by the doors where the 3 torque bolts hold the dash on, so I ended up removing that while i had the dash off, there was about 1/16 of rust there so something you guys might want to take a look at. Was a pain to get it off but was a nice find to keep my jeep in great condition. but here is the paint job so far, about to head out to the garage and start putting it all back together. Ill be taking some pics when its all together.

Nice work. I did a couple of pieces myself, what was black I touched up and then painted just the speaker grills black. What paint did you use? In regards to the rust...trust me, there is more behind the dash that unless you take the entire dash out you won't find it. I noticed the same when I replaced the front speakers. Man jeeps sure are rust buckets; why is that?

well i removed the whole frame itself there was just very little on the jeep itself but mainly looked like it was on the paint it self so i cleaned that up and put some rust-oleum rust converter on it. then on the frame itself i got most of the rust off it, on the sides was the worst so i took the grinder to it just to nock most of it off then sprayed that with the rust converter too, then i put 2 coats of rust-oleum black acrylic enamel on that it, looks better then new now, also debating on putting some weatherstripping as a cushion between the jeep and that frame but all depends if i can find some of my old hardtop weatherstripping.
