97 TJ help needed

First off thanks to all of the info and helpful ideas I have learned from reading these posts.I have a 97 TJ 4cyl manual all stock with 58k miles that I bought. There were 2 main issues, oil leak and exhaust noise. The oil leak turned out to be the oil pan, and cracked manifold exhaust. Replaced the oil pan and living with the exhaust for now. Now when I turn on the headlight switch I have headlights, dome and courtesy but no backlighting on the speedo fuel gauge etc. or back lighting on the heater controls.Checked the fuses and all ok behind the glove box. And yes I'm a newb and having never owned a jeep before I know this much... they'll have to pry my fingers off the steering wheel!!

You'll have to take the dash apart to check, but sometimes the plug that connects to the rear of the dash gets a little loose. If not, the light switch on the dash where you turn your headlights on might be bad. Replacing that is pretty easy.
