97 TJ.. Need Opinions

I just got into the Jeep thing after years of wanting one.. Been looking for a set of Nerf Bars that would look good on my TJ.. Anyone have any ideas that would work on mine... Not sure if should go with Black or Polished.. Any pics would be great, thanks in advance..

Well you might not like my opinion on this one but here it goes. Nerf bars are basically just steps to help get into a vehicle. The do not do well in harder off road situations. A friend of mine has them on his 97 TJ and the joke has always been " Well what are we going to do today finally rip those things from the frame?" Whenever he gets in a harder situation, it seems as if he is always hung up on them. Nerf bars are thin walled tube that act as a step. They do very little to protect the sides of your Jeep. There are plenty of products out there that do act as both a step and a guard.

Something like these on E-Bay are under $300 shipped. Maybe not the stongest but better than some nerf bars.

Nerf bars.. That's so 80's!!!! LOL.. Just kidding.. Seriously though Nerf bars offer very little protection, will you be dragging them over rocks or bouncing off trees? If so you should look into tub mounted sliders. If your not interested in drilling a few small holes in your tub go with frame mount sliders although they are not as strong. I have the A to Z sliders and I am very happy with them however if I was in the market today I would go with Savvy's Aluminum sliders. BTW nice looking Jeep!
Here are a couple links:

He made no mention of off road protection... He may just want something that looks cool.

Now if you want form and function go with what has been suggested. If your Jeep isn't going to do any serious wheeling I'd say get what you think looks good IMO.

You might consider something like this:
