97 TJ wiring diagram

looking for a wiring diagram for my 97 TJ. More specifically, the tail lights. I got a trailer hitch for free. Went to U-Haul for the wiring gimmick. They don't have a plug and play one. I need to know what wires are what for splicing in.

Thanks

Eric

do what i do, go into your local auto parts store, find the chilton's manual...read the pages you need, take some notes, and then go home and modify.

Repeat when neccessary.

www.stu-offroad.com has instructions for mounting LED lights, but also indicate which wires are which...

I wired in a hitch last week.

From his site...
Jeep Harness - Light Function

Purple/Black - Backup light
Black/Yellow - Tail light or Side marker light
Green/Red - Left Stop & Turn Signal
Brown/Red - Right Stop & Turn Signal

If you have stock lights still, you can get a harness for a Jeep at Advance Auto. The one I bought was for 98-04 and the plugs were different. No biggie. I have LED's anyway and used those crimp taps to set things up. You can get a unversal one for about 15.00 or so.

Thank you. This is exactly what I was looking for.

I'll check out that site for more info, though.

Thanks again,

Eric
