I have a 1997 jeep wrangler and am trying to do something different. so here goes i have a 1999 mustang with a 3.8 liter v6 the car is no good but the motor runs great. The 4cyl motor in my jeep well the hp is less then desireable and i am wanting to put the 3.8 liter in my jeep. Does anyone know what i would need to do to make this swap and even if its possible i know there are people out there dropping much bigger motors in jeeps i just want something with a little more kik and still have some good gas mileage. things like can i still use the stock tranny and the engine mounts anything will be helpful. thanks.

anything is possible, just might not be feasible. check with advance adapters, they might have some idea what you can and cannot do. i had a 350 in an old cj, and it had too much power.i have a 4 banger in my tj and it wheels great!
highway is another story, but 4.88:1 gearing helped a whole bunch!:punk:

Yes you need to call around and do some checking or research on the net for 3.8L conversion.I know of a few with Buick V6s in them but not the ford V6 so you would have to do some cutting and welding I am sure. The motor mounts are the easy part, finding the adapters to mount the tranny up to the V6 would be the next thing.I would even look for an adapter to keep the ford tranny and adapt the T-case to it if possible.
