97 Wrangler Guages

I just bought a 97 TJ 4 cyl. 5 speed. The guage cluster doesn't work. If I unhook the battery for a few minutes then hook it back up the guages will work once. Then when I turn the key off they are dead again until I do the battery trick again. I know the guages are a known problem and have already cleaned and tweeked the pins in the electrical connector as suggested in other posts but didn't work. Any help and detailed instructions would be greatly appreciated as I am new to this and like doing things myself(although I am def. no mechanic lol). Thank you in advance. TJshawn
