97 wrangler questions

I bought a 97 jeep wrangler with the 2.5 and I noticed that on a cold start I get a little engine noise, I figured that may be it was the valves so I need to adjust them, does anyone know what the clearence should be, how to find TDC and if they nee to be adjusted hot or cold. If anyone thinks that it might be somethinh else please let me know. The Jeep has 52k on it and great oil pressure. Also I was wanting to do a 2 inch suspension lift on it, whats the best and cheapest kit I could buy. I don't really plan on doing much offroading I just like the look. I saw on Ebay that they had spring spacers and some have new shocks with them. I have really no idea what I am looking for when it comes to lifts, thanks for your help

you would get better advice if you post this on the tj forum...yj=87-95 tj=97-06...before takin the engine apart i would try changing the oil with an additve or mabey a diffrent weght oil...if your going for look like bigger tires just put a body lift or buget boost on it an be done

i didnt think it was that deep

As killer said, the budget boost would be a good option for you. It will give you that little bit of lift you are looking for and not effect much else.

Agreed with both statements above. Change your oil and see if it's just a lifter sticking a little bit first. Jeep engines do get that way at times.

Secondly if you are just going for look then 2" spacer would be great for you. Hell if you don't plan on wheeling it much then you could even get away without buying new shocks. However correctly length shocks will help your ride out in the long run.
