98 Sahara, Good Price?

Dealer wants $7995 but can probably lower it 1K. 99L miles 6 Cyl Manual and white with tan cloth top. Good deal or pass?

Good miles.. but that's automatic in perfect condition price where I'm from... I'd try to talk them down at least $1500.00 or buy privately.

Am I the only person on this earth who has used kbb.com, edmunds.com, or nadaguides.com?

using all three of these will show you if its a good deal for your area.

and when you run the price - its a Sahara.

Those sites only guide you. Jeeps don't tend to follow them very well as they hold their value. Stop wasting everyone's time with stupid remarks.

First off relax it was a joke. Second don't you think they take into account that a wrangler holds its value? Why don't you use those numbers from the sites to guide you, it will get you in the ball park.

Really? That was actually the most helpful post of this thread....I didn't hold your hand, and make you feel warm inside. But I'm pretty sure if you actually looked up the VALUE, you'd see what it's worth.

OR you can read below. I really don't care either way, as I already own a Jeep.

With your obvious vast knowledge of what Jeeps are worth, why are you posting this question?

Take your time and stay away from dealerships. The links that Mrcarcrazy posted SHOULD be in your favorites and being used if your Jeep shopping.

BTW... I paid less than 7k for my 2000 TJ Sport with 83k miles. She's a plain Janer but Im fixen that little at a time.

Watch Craig's List!

...but that one at the dealership is a great deal, make sure to get the extended warranty, they always come in handy with wranglers.

It does have a Sahara interior but no badging? Check the vin and the front fenders and paint. May have been wrecked. Usually a big palm tree looking badge under the 4.0L badge. Vin could also tell you if it has a trac-loc limited slip diff in the Dana 35(Good or Bad according to how much your tryin to wheel.) Those years I don't think had the 44 option.

Top looks new! And Def has Sahara fenders that are about 1"wider than sports.

If buying from a dealer, ask for previous owner...I always ask, get there number and bs with them...gives a little more info than some shmuck wantin' to get his quota of sales for the month...most dealers, that aren't hiding something, will give you what you want to sell and get you back as a return customer. Beats the hell out of a stupid carfax that they want you to believe...lol

If you can verify it is a Sahara and all original...(use the vin # and do your home work) and is in as good of shape as the photo's look... then it is a fair deal at $7K.

I thought this was just an observation and NOT a waste of time. This is a valid point. I also use these as a guide. Though comparisons with the current market is the only way to be sure, this is still a valid point.

No need to get upset with people. He was only trying to make a point.

The vehicle economy sucks, and as stated, KBB is a good reference. But since the economy is slow right now, dealers are more willing to sell vehicles for less, try to talk him down a bit. THe price they have is always a grand or more over what they payed for it. Remember, they only want to make money off of you, so they price them so they aren't sold short.

I always go by what the average vehicle I am looking at goes for and if I find one I really like and even if it is a bit more than what I feel it should sell for, who cares? If I want it and like it, I buy it and go on from there. Of course I always try to talk them down in price as much as possible. I am not going to let something I really like get away from me for a few hundred dollars, but you have to be sure this is the vehicle you really want.

I've found Edmunds to be very useful.

Go to the sell section, input vehicle information as if you are going to sell it.

Depending on the exterior condition, either put "good" or "average" and look at the trade in value (not private party or dealer price).

Take that number, factor in your desire for this Jeep and your budget, look at ebay completed listings then make an offer.

In my experience NADA, KBB and BlackBook all provided low ball numbers

my 2 cents
