'98 wrangler cranks but won't start

So yesterday my friend needed a jump on his car, so I offered like friends do. I know I hooked them up right, but the first attempt was a no go. The cables got very hot and he said he saw smoke. So we switched cables to some thicker ones and it worked. I drove home just fine and dandy, but this morning went to start it and it wouldn't fire. It would crank over just fine but no fire. Had battery tested and it was ok. Next I checked spark and there is none. I first replaced worn cap and rotor, then had coil checked its ok, then replaced cam position sensor and still no spark. What the hell do I do now? I don't want to keep buying things that aren't broken. Any suggestions thanks

I know it's a silly question but did you check the fuses? If the cables got hot you might have popped a fuse?
It only breaks when it feels neglected....
