99 jeep looking to do some upgrades

I currently have a 99 wrangler with a 4" pro comp suspension lift and running 35 pro com mt/2. The only thing I bought was the tires and this past weekend my cousin got my jeep stuck and broke my front axel. I am looking at doing a big upgrade and was thing about getting the Clayton 5.5" long arm suspension lift with a 3 link and maybe bigger axels. Just wanted to get some opinions out there of anything I might be able to do to make it a better ride. Its stricly and offroading vehicle I keep it off the road as much as possible. thanks

Welcome! What rear/front axle combo do you have right now? With 35's you should be able to lock front and rear Dana 44's with no problems. Any lockers currently? Was it regeared for the 35" tires?

Im not sure im not a wench head I wish I was though. It had 33's on there and they were bald bad so I bought 35's. It has the stock axel's on there currently but my cousin got it stuck and gave it hell and broke the front axel so I wanted to save up and beef up the axels and get a new suspension with a locker and a 3 or 4 link just trying to figure out what would be best. Thanks for the reply I really appreciate it. Thanks

What jeep do you have...sahara? sport? se?

My guess is you've got a d30/d35 combo so you'd definitely want to upgrade your axles. Possibly bolt up a d44 from a rubicon in front and run a d44 or a ford 8.8 in the rear. At minimum i'd put a super 30 kit in front and run the d44 or 8.8 in the rear. I'd also regear it to 4.88

I personally have an SE and will be going to 35's in a few months...i'm going to put an 8.8 in the rear and run a super 30 in front with 4.88's

It was not regeared for the 35's still the same gears as i bought it. I want to get better gears axels and re-do my suspension. Just looking at what it will cost to achieve this. Just had a little boy 3 months ago so she's making me save up for this so I'm looking at 6 to 9 months to do all these upgrades. thanks again for all the replys and help

Can you post a pic of your rear axle so we know what ya got? Its either a Dana 44 or Dana 35. Is it a manual or automatic and what engine does it have?

If you have a Dana 35 you will want to look at either adding a Super 35 kit or swapping in a Dana 44 or ford 8.8 and having those regeared.

Of you have a Dana 44 you should have it regeared for the 35" tires and maybe add a locker if you want. If your Dana 44 has 3.73 gearing you will need a new carrier anyway so a locker might be a good idea.

Either way you have a dana 30 front axle. This axle doesn't need any upgrades if you run 35" tires and keep it open, but some chromoly shafts would be a good idea to make it a bit stronger just in case.

We don't know if he needs new axles until we know what rear axle he has currently. If its a Dana 44, he just has to regear. If its a Dana 35 he has to either upgrade it or swap it out

That's a Dana 35 I the rear and a 30 in the front. You'll need a 44 or better in the rear since superior is no longer manufacturing the super 35 if that was an option for you and for the 30 i would upgrade it to a cv shaft and sleeve the tubes if I had the money. The other option for the 35 is to get a carrier from an early 30 spline YJ (non c-clip) and get 30 spline shafts for it but that's more of a piece together thing that will probably have no type of warranty if you really f'd it up.

You can get other super 35 kits from reputable companies that will handle 35's locked fine. And a dana 30 is fine open on 35's

Just keep looking around. I looked for a few months and eventually found a Dana 44 from a tj for $350. I replaced bearings and painted it with no problems.

That may be true but none of them to my knowledge will get rid of the c-clips which are the 35's biggest downfall
