99 jeep tj box for 10" woffer

I need to know the specs for a box for a 10" kicker comp cvr. I had one made but it is like a truck box that faces the back door. The speaker sounds like crap with the soft top on. With the hard top on, it sounds really good~!

Can't you just turn it around? I made a custom one to fit in the back under my instatrunk, it faces the forward. I have a 12" in it.

Turning the box around isnt going to fix the air space issue im having. the box isnt built for that much airspace. when the hard top is on, the air space isnt as big, it is more confined.

Personally I think the woofer in bandpass box sounds best for top and topless for quality/tight bass. I am not sure if that particulur woofer is suited for a bandpass enclosure. (Plus a bandpass box protects the speaker from misc stored items behind the rear seat.)

Why don't you build a down-firing box similar to the ones Quadratec (and other retailers) sells? That way, you can build it as tall as you need to meet the specs.

My son had to have the boom in his TJ, so we built a down firing ported box that fits between the rear seat and tailgate. It's made for a 10" JL Audio 10W3v3-2 woofer. The sub makes plenty of clean bass with the soft top on or off. If you want some pics, contact me via email.
