A Dog ate my seat....

Well, actually it LOOKS like a dog chewed on it. It came that way from the previous owner.

From a comfort standpoint it doesn't bother me (which probably says something about the size of my fanny!) but my wife says it looks gross - and she is right (as usual).

Of course, I don't want to spend a lot of money. I was about to purchase a $160 Rugged Ridge replacement seat ( http://www.omix-ada.com/images/item/normal/13401.01.jpg ) but before I pulled the trigger I thought I would ask for opinions.

Has anyone purchased this seat? Will it look much different than the seats in the Jeep now (for all I know they could be aftermarket seats, too). I have a feeling the RR seat is not as high-backed as the OEM seat.

TIA for any and all input.

you could very likely score a set of buckets from a gimp car/fart car/Jap car from Craigslist or the Boneyard for $100.00,do some adapting to existing mounts, and save money! That's what I would do!

Those are nice looking seats. Looks like the Apex seats except in black. Very nice.

Yeah exactly but you can tell it's a seat cover cause they end a little bit before the actually seat ends on the bottom, you can see the grey seat peaking out.

I may be very wrong though haha.

I sent a PM to InfernoGirl about the seats. They are not seat covers. Don't know if they are OEM or if previous owner put them in. However, I also have the bench seat - also in black vinyl - that also looks like a dog chewed on it. The back seat wasn't installed when I bought the Jeep and I have never tried to put it in - no brackets and no desire to use it.

If the seat is still comfortable just get a cover.

Well...LOL....I have to admit that my own fanny-dragging probably hasn't helped the situation much.

Yep, they look like stock vinyl seats to me. I haven't tried my covers on vinyl yet. No Guinea pigs available to me... My concern is that they'll be really slippery on the vinyl and not stay put like they do on the cloth seats.. I don't know that they will, but I don't know that they won't.... I've read that Cavalier seats are a good swap. But then you loose the fold and tumble that we all love... I'm gonna shoot you a PM in the morning, when I'm not so tired, and maybe we can figure out something.

When I got my Sport, the PO said the drivers seat was ripped. After I got home and started to clean it I noticed the seat (very similar to the pic) was a cover. Underneath was the stock seat. Ugly looking but rip free.

One thing you might check out is an automotive upholstery shop. The back of the set looks like it is still in good shape and they could probably make you a new vinyl cover for the bottom for less than a new seat, and it would still match.

Dan, if you want to stick(hehe) with the vinyl, Bestop seatcovers are probably a very good choice for you. I also hear very good things about Marathon seat covers.
