A few Questions

1. I have an 02 tj and im just wondering if there are any easy ways yall know of to check o2 sensors and injectors to see if they are bad...also this might be a dumb question but could o2 sensors cause it to misfire? I have already changed my spark plugs and it still misfires...im assuming its probably the injectors but i figured i would ask anyways

2. My jeep is throwin a 1281 code which is the engine is staying cold for too long..i have changed my thermostat at least 3 times and it seems like they only last a few months...last time it threw this code it went off by itself after a while and stayed off for about a month so im confused.

Thanks for the help

First...I'm not a mechanic...so this may not be accurate. O2 sensors could cause it to miss or run rough...if an O2 sensor is going out, it could make it run rich or lean trying to suit the conditions the sensor thinks its reading.

Are you replacing the thermostat with a factory temperature thermostat? I think it's 195*F... on Dodge Dakotas, some of the trucks would throw a code for staying too cold for too long when people installed 160* thermostats in them in place of the stock 195*F thermostat...although that normally only happened on cold days.

Also, if it's staying too cold for too long...that could also be causing your miss...engine running extra rich trying to help it warm up. Unless you're putting too cool of a thermostat in it, I'm not sure why it's throwing that code...unless the O2 sensor can be causing it?

Oh and as far as checking o2 sensors... not sure how to check the voltage as far as which wires to probe, but if you check the voltage, it should flip flop between a low voltage and a higher voltage. If it's like .1 to .3...it's probably getting "lazy"... I think normal is like .1 flipping to .9 etc. Can't remember for sure though...
