heres the kit straight from RC and its cheaper and new.

http://roughcountry.com/jeep_tj_4.html this one's for a TJ but doesnt come with the 2.2 perf. shocks.. not sure whats performance about them.. i have the 2.5 kit and dont seem any better or worse than the stock shocks that were on there.

edit: ok.. i see your purchasing the upgrade from RC with the 2.2 shocks.. thats actually they way i would have went had i actually asked the gang here.. just do the kit, i wouldnt worry to much about upgrading to the 2.2 shocks.. cause like i said.. i dont really see or feel any difference in ride quality.. feels no different that the stock cept im up higher.. save the $100 for something else.. lights, quick discos etc.

I have a RC lift and it rides great on the road. Mines been on for a few years now and theres a couple things you may want to know about it. The shocks that came with the kit didnt last very long so I replaced them with bds shocks. About 4 months ago I installed quick disconnects. These improve the articulation tremendously. But , The bushings on the lower control arms are getting ripped apart from the twisting. And I have to keep a check on the control arm mounting bolts, they keep working loose. I'm going to switch all the lower control arm out for some adjustable ones and the weld the stock adjustment washers onto the front axle. Then I will be able to adjust my front end with the control arms and it wont work loose on the rocks. But all in all its a great kit and if you dont wheel the sh#$ out of it , you shouldnt have any complaints.

Is this kit new? The $499.00 comes with the basic shocks. He is getting the 2.2 so isn't this suppose to be about right?

I guess I am not the only one with the loose control arm bolt Although I have the lift for about 6 months now.

hey man, i have the RC 4" and the shocks that come with, on mine atleast, are more than good....the ones i have aren't "too stiff and yadda yadda".....i could have gotten the upgrade but i am WAY more than happy with the shocks that come with the lift..i say try them out first man and then upgrade if you wanna, and even then i would prob. go to the rancho 9000's or some EMUs...

Thanks guys for all the input. I guess i just assumed that i would need to upgrade the shocks with the kit, RC makes there "basic" shocks seem to be less than good (their wording)

Hamilton, i will contact your reference to see if i could get a better deal than what i had posted. I guess i will run with the $499 package (non shock upgrade) and your right FIG if for what ever reason i dont care for them i could always upgrade and maybe/probably switch to EMu's or Rancho 9000's etc... So if i can get the $499 kit with free shipping and a 10% discount or so i should be stylin! I wonder if your man (Hamilton) could hook me up?

i think that's your best bet man, if your lift is professionally done...i doubt your shocks will give you any complaints...

keep in mind from what i've heard that if you are a very frequent wheeler ...rock crawlin and muddin' and all this probably isn't the best kit...but like i said in the other thread i am active duty military and at this point don't get to get off road at very many occasions...so i take very good care of my rig everytime i get on and off road....best of luck to you in your decision...i can't fully express to you how happy i am with mine...i will upgrade my shocks when needed but for now...they are more than satisfying

I would agree I have the shocks that came with it and I thought it was going to be way worse. They get better after a while too.
