A mostly successful afternoon of maintenance

Disclaimer : I have limited mechanical experience.

Today I changed out the manual transmission fluid on my 03 Sport with 72,000 miles. I only had small metal bits sticking to the drain plug. I used Penzoil Synchromesh, and it shifts noticeably smoother now. I only made a small mess on the driveway. Finding a 17mm hex head socket was the hardest part.

This completes the changing of all the fluids. The previous owner was a little lax in some areas.

I also rotated the tires and found several mangled lugnuts. I am having a hard time finding reasonably priced lugnts in any local parts stores. I called the dealer and they quoted me $8 each. I politely declined.
Any suggestions for purchasing lugnuts online?

No idea on the lugnuts but kudos to you for doing your own maintenance

junkyards are a good place to find the lugnuts around here in st louis. or you could try Craigslist in your area.

Autozone. Make sure and get the solid metal lugs and not the ones that are spot welded together like the stock ones.

I called NAPA, $4 for a lugnut, dealer $8, I found some Gorilla lugnuts online for $1.45 each. Even with shipping, it's a much better deal.

I bought 1 set of the $5 each NAPA nuts and 3 sets of the $5 a set autozone nuts... well 1 year later all the caps are missing from the autozone nuts and the NAPA nuts have just lost their shine a little bit...

As the old saying goes, you usually get what you pay for.
