Aah cluster!

okay, struggling right now. so all the guages in my cluster are acting up on me. here are some the most recent symptoms:

in the day time: start the jeep up, no guages work, so i push against the cluster and they kick in. when i stop putting pressure on the cluster they give out again. however, sometimes when i'm driving and push against it, they'll work properly for the rest of the ride.

in the night: start the jeep up, no guages work, so i push against the cluster and they kick in. Then when i turn on lights the whole cluster blanks out and my turn signal lights come on and remain solid.

what is goin on here? i tried to find a code and am coming up unsuccessful. i tried the guage reset and didn't get back a code. Also, what is the accessory position?

the cluster pushes into the connector behind the dash. remove the cluster, clean the connections, and make sure the connector and pins are seated right. very common problem

If I remember correctly, there is a recall or a service bulletin on the connectors behind the dash on some years. If the connectors will not stay in place then you can get the replacements from Jeep for a minimal amount. (If you can wire a stereo then you can replace both plugs with minimal problems. Just don't use quick connects and electrical tape.)

got it fixed. cleaned out the connections with alcohol and q tips. then took out the connectors from their metal fitting. plugged them into the cluster and push the cluster back into its place. everything words perfect now.but now half of my speedometer light works. ill deal with it.

if half your lights work the connection isn't back in right. it takes a couple tries some times. i'd take it out and reseat it again.

don't waste your time only cleaning the connections.... buy some dielectric grease and apply it to the connections too- it'll prevent moisture from affecting the connections later on= you won't have to take apart your dash again after you leave your top off and everything gets soaked

Help...

Oh where to begin... My cig lighter wasn't working so I rewired it off the stereo hot wire. Still didn't work so I rewired it factory and replaced with new lighter. Then the stereo didn't work so I used cig lighter hot wire for that and capped the factory hot stereo wire. Then my cab lights quit working all together, don't come on manually or with doors open. This morning I start it and my gauge cluster isn't working so I took it apart and checked connections. Everything looks fine... Lights on cluster work but not gauges, checked all the fuses and nothing happens....
Any ideas????
