I got a 2001 Wrangler, and the AC unit started leaking oil. Is there a way to fix a leak like this or do I have to put in a new AC compressor? If I run the Jeep with the AC leaking oil, will it eventually seize up? I'm wondering if I have any options other than spending 7 or 8 bills to put a new unit it in.
If you never turn on the A/C or the defroster the compressor shouldn't be running which means it can't freeze or lock up even it it leaks all the freon out of it. Also, if you know how or can find out how to add freon back as it leaks out (depends on how fast it's leaking) you could continue to use the A/C until you can get it fixed.
