Accident today.

So I got rear ended today while sitting at a stop light in my 2000 Sahara 4.0 5speed with about 145k. It was a hard hit, frame looks good, but tub got some damage. It was the dodge's fault and he pushed me about three foot. The tub is creased above the taillight and pushed in on both sides of the body mount. The fender flare has a gap where the tub bowed inward. So my question for any body guys on here is. How bad is it really? I do mechanicals and not much on the body. I feel I got the less obvious of the two damage wise, but his is just bolt on replacement. I'm just trying to get an idea while I wait on his insurance to contact me. Thanks for any help that can be given.

Easy peasy. Replace the busted parts, put a new corner on and straighten the tub. Thats gravy work for a body shop.

Well i hope you are ok first.

And as i see if your chassis is ok and axle too.
That kinda damage is fairly easy to fix just drill some holes and pull the hell out of that thing some welds and bondo or maybe thats the perfect excuse for corner guards hahaha and the stock bumper well time to get a new one or maybe time to do a DIY
Hope you are ok and thats not to much don't worry i have seen worst damage.
Good luck buddy

There are much better methods than drilling holes and welding. It would take less time to put a new corner in than it would to drill holes weld( warp the hell outta it) mud it up yada yada.

yeah i'm fine, sore neck, but that's about it. i didn't know if they could just replace the corner with a replacement panel like on a truck. figured they could, but hadn't messed with them. and no the stock bumper is not going back, either buy a heavy one or more likely build my own. my main concern is the tub.
On another note, what do you all think about that dodge? his bumper is along side his tire, had it smoking in the 200 yd drive into the parking lot.

The tub is fine, when they clamp onto the corner for a pre pull that little warp will most likely flatten out. Its secondary damage, no biggy

how about where it caved in on both sides of the body mount? doesn't look too bad, but defiantly noticeable.

Looks like the damage is on the corner section just below the light. That part is a service part along with the piece under the tailgate.

thats good, thanks guys. that is what I was hoping to hear. I just want it fixed so I can go back to doing the normal repairs and restoration I am trying to do to it. On top of that it's about fishing weather here and that goes so many more places than my 3/4 ton cummins 4x4. this is a great rig for river fishing at night.

Thats probably less than a week turn around for that fix provided theres no hang up with parts.

Nah. You dont need to drive around and get a buncha quotes. Its a lot easier than u think. Call yer insurance and tell them where yer taking it. They will send an adjuster out to the shop.

it's not my insurance that is gonna be paying for it, police report clearly says he is at fault. around here when stuff like this has happens it's always get 3 quotes and then they send an adjuster to look at it before cutting a check.

No need to get multiple quotes. Pick the shop that you think is most competent and have them complete the work. The insurance company cannot dictate who completes the repairs.

I know getting rear ended can ruin your day but at least you're both ok. Hopefully he doesn't have Farmers insurance they're hell to deal with and cheap out on everything.
