adding body lift questions

I have a 3 inch skyjacker suspension lift on my 01' sport right now ans I am thinking about adding a 1 inch body lift. I was wondering if I would meed to add a drop pit an arm or anything else because I know if you do a suspension lift any higher than 3 inches it is required. Any help would be great. Thank you

Simply raising the body up from the frame does not affect steering geometry

When you buy your body lift kit make sure you get one that includes at the very least a transfer case linkage relocation bracket.

You will also have to deal with your fan shroud as the lift will cause the fan to hit it. I did mine with a 1" MML and have no issues. Others have modified the shroud. The choice is yours.

I was thinking of a body lift myself. Is there kits that come with the shift extension for manual trans?

You wont need to do anything with the shifter besides to make sure your body is lined up correctly. I have a 1-1/4 body lift with a manual trans and have no shifting issues

You won't need a drop pitman arm with a body lift, nor would you with a suspension lift over 3" unless you want to screw up the parallel relationship between the track bar and drag link. Not a good idea unless you like bump steer.

I would add a motor mount lift and take out as much transfer case drop as possible by removing the spacer blocks and replacing them with stacked washers. Use only as many as you need to get rid of drive line vibrations.

A 1.25" body lift is the tallest most of us here will suggest you use for many reason. With 1.25" of body lift you will be fine with the shifter where it's at.

What are some of the reasons that you wouldn't go over a 1.25" BL? I got a 2" BL for Christmas and was going to install it this week.

Just curious is all. Dont want to screw myself

You are more likely to have issues with the shifter hitting on the boot and not going into all of the gears. The gap is ugly and worse the taller you go. You will likely need to extended the fuel tank fill hose. You likely need to space the steering shaft bushing bracket so it doesn't bind. Taller body lifts also add stress at the mounting points and increase body roll as well.
