Adding rear lights

im looking to put a set of lights on the rear of my jeep so i have some more light when backing up. do i have the run a relay and switch or can i just run the lights off of the factory backup light?

well depending on how you want them running. Do you want them on to trail ride too? If yes then I would wire them with a relay and a new switch.

Be careful when putting these things on the back! I had them on a CJ5 with a 3" lift and the first time I went wheeling I broke the damn things off within 5 mins turning around on a trail! backed up through a rut and snap!

What did you do in the rut to snap them off the bumper? I am going to look into the leds that sit smooth with the body. Ie cut them in, that way nothing can get to them.

seems like an install error.... or driver error ... or probably both.

im sure if you put some thought into it you will be fine.

you know what? i wanna do this too! (not drive into ruts)

i only want them to come on when my reverse lights come on.

can i splice em, and make em run off the factory back up lights ? or ???

what are these led's you speak of?

Just 4in white leds. Get some really bright bulbs in them and bam your done. Less very little power so you can tie into your old harness. actually if you find the hot wire you can tap off of that and run a wire back to the cab for the switch and then you have a switched light without to much work.
