Advice on buying a TJ

Greetings. I am looking to purchase a TJ probably 2003 - 2006. I would like to spend no more than $18,000. I would like a Rubicon, but its probably out of my price range. I have a 2005 Grand Cherokee(lease). I need an automatic and want a 6 cylinder. Were there any years that were best? I will keep it stock with just adding some bigger tires/wheels. I'm been browsing Ebay - mainly just 'window shopping'. Has anyone had good luck with Ebay? It looks like the ones on Ebay on 4 cylinders and they are going for more $$$$ than local vehicles(if you can find one). When looking at TJs, how can I tell it hasn't been beat? I would appreciate any info, advice, help. Thanks

yup, a rubi is not out of reach. The years you are looking at are all very similar. Not too many changes. Your local Jeep dealerships are a good place to start. Check for rust and dents UNDER the jeep. That should tell you how it has been treated. For those years, they should be rust free. If not, keep looking.

Buncha junk I've spent hard earned money on.

Sorry I couldn't resist. It's the third grader in me coming out
