Advise on buying this jeep...

A buddy of mine's father is selling a 2006 TJ X edition. It is manual, soft top and orange. He wants $16k.

Is this a good deal? It has just over 30k miles. Thanks!

I would look online at the blue book value and wouldn't pay over that. Other than that, I would say if you are going to do serious offroading, I would look for a Rubicon. If I were going to buy another wrangler, that's what it would be. The Dana 44 front and rear ends make them worth the extra money. Other than that, I'm on my second wrangler in 14 years, and couldn't see myself ever without one.

What would should I offer? 14k? KBB puts it at about 17, but edmunds and nada are lower like 14-15k.

I got mine (pretty much exact same, just in blue pearl) for $13,500. Double the miles.

I say anywhere b/w 13,800-14,500 would be a good deal. I paid 18,000 for my 06 LJ Rubi, I bought private deal. No stealership

I'd say $14 would be a good price.. My 04 X manual soft top with 68k was 11,900 but I paid 10,500

11.5 is a steal

12.5 is a deal

13.5 is fair

14.5 is high end

15 is top dollar and only if you are looking at exactly what you want.

My humble opinion

Last time I was at the dealer, they had an 06 Rubi for $16K, but 60,000 miles, lifted, soft top and rougher condition than your friends X. Good luck.

If you plan to go offroad, look for one with a dana 44 rear, as I recall all the x models have the weaker dana 35 axle.

That's NADA rough condition trade in value with a 6 Cyl and A/C. New tires, nice top, probably driven responsibly too. I'd grab it at that price. Cant argue with a Rubi, but can you find one? I'd even turn around and re-list it right away for $18k

NADA is the dealer book, not Kelly. Look: 2006 Jeep Wrangler Prices, Standard Equipment, Detailed Information, Specs | NADAguides

With 30,000 I think thats an alright deal. try offering him $15000 maybe he'll bite. you might get lucky and it may have a dana44 in the rear. The fun about a jeep is building it. lockers front and rear aren't a must .

It will not have a Dana 44 in it unless he specifies. If seller added a Dane 44 then you bet your butt he would disclose for value/price.
