Affordable/quality winch brands & ideas for '02

Hey guys, wanted to get the forum opinion on winches. I'm looking at a front bumper for my '02, but I feel like I've gotta get a winch at the same time as the bumper, or it'll look stupid without it

Anyway, I've looked on Harbor freight, and found a nice 12k winch- my uncle says that is ideal, but it seems a bit too big for just a wrangler. I've also founda rugged ridge 8.5k on Amazon for a good price, and am leaning that way.

From a quality/price perspective (I understand Warn is the best, but I can't afford to spend that much on a winch I'll likely use very infrequently), what do you guys recommend as far as winches go?

Thanks in advance.

was looking a this one as well-Warn quality, and not terribly expensive; any experience with this one?

Is the 8k powerful enough for a TJ? I would have to think it's perfectly adequate for a casual wheeler, yes?

From the thousands of this same post ive read people are gonna say dont waste your money amd save for warn. However, considering they are all somewhat equal (excluding warn) for the price range your looking at the harbor freight one has lifetime warranty... So if it breaks take it back. My buddy has one on a tacoma and has had to replace it once or twice but he only paid once. these winches your looking at are roughly 300 bucks which you can find a used warn on cl for close to that or buy a brand new warn on amazon for 490. Its not THAT much more for the peice of mind that it will not break. But if not, i say badlands harbor freight 9k. Since it has lifetime cause youll definately need the warranty on any chinese winch and others only have it for a year or two

for sure. The weather here in Ohio is warming up at least a little, so it's got me in "spring project" mode for the jeep- time to spend some money!

For what it's worth, I usually save up and spend a little more for American made. It sucks because it's more expensive but it's about the principle to me. I'll prob get a Warn when I'm ready to make that purchase.
