After Market Bumpers

What is your favorite after market bumper on a TJ? I don't foresee myself getting a winch so I am leaning towards the tubular loop bumper made by smitybilt and other brands. What do you like?

Undercover Fab makes a stubby aluminum bumper that only weighs 9 pounds. Fits great and is incredibly strong. Tube bumpers are no longer a popular choice for wranglers. More of a 90s thing.

Love my Metal Cloak

Not a fan of tube bumpers. Good luck!

Me, too.

Aluminum is lighter and doesn't rust, not that my Hanson bumper has any rust on it. It's a fantastic bumper.

wouldn't "lighter" be a bad thing if you were to hit things? or is aluminum just stronger?

It's purely a matter of what appeals to you and what you want to spend, what someone else finds appeals to them may not be the right thing for you. Spend a lot of time on the big Jeep bumper sellers websites and see what appeals to you.

Nates4x4.
Weld thru D ring tabs and $235 along with american made were factors for me. He makes them when the order is placed, so you have to be patient and wait a week for delivery.

No. In order to get the same strength as a steel bumper, the aluminum alloy one must be thicker. At that point, the aluminum alloy one will still be lighter.

I looked at the web site.
What does it mean by "light tabs"?

Is this where you would attach the fog lights?

My jeep is stock.
However, if I ever decide to change my bumper, I think I like the idea of those bumpers that stick out a little in front of the jeep. That way, if you do get into an accident, the impact starts a little more forward of you than if you ran the OEM bumper. Gives the bumper a little more time to take the shock, before reaching the front of the jeep. (I hope this makes sense.)

More bumper in front of you could mean less damage to your jeep.
Maybe you walk away from the accident with just having to replace just the bumper.
