Aftermarket Stereo

I just bought a 2003 Wrangler. Absolutely love it! But I want to installer a new stereo deck in it that includes an iPod hookup and things like that.

Anyone know what brand/model will fit in the wrangler and if every aftermarket stereo will require an adapter for the hookup harness?

All stereos will require an adapter for the harness and for the antenna. Get on Crutchfield.com

That's where I always get my head units from. Anything over $119 gets free installation hardware as well..

Just installed a Sony Xplode that I first read about on Quadratec, but then bought elsewhere at a clearance sale for $35.00 off the Quad price. Installed easy and with the wiring adapater harness, couldn't be simpler. And it sounds great. Was thinking about an amp and sub, but so far this stereo sounds better than what I expected and I might not need an amp. Also, Quadratec has a lot of good information on stereo stuff for your Jeep.

Most 1/2 din stereos will fit in your Jeep. You can set a budget and buy from Crutchfield and get everything you need as long as you spend 120.00 like was said above. You will get complete installation gear, instructions, and tech support to save yourself the installation fee. You can actually call them from your cellphone while installing if you have trouble. They are a little more expensive than most places, but worth it when you consider all of the perks and the fact that all of their equipment has real factory warranty's.

I am not a Sony fan as they have been up and down with their car audio gear, but you can get Alpine, Kenwood, or Pioneer and be good to go.

i got an alpine CDE 121 head unit. i got an alpine because ive read that it is one of the best for head units. its a single din, has ipod integration, i got it refurbed on ebay for $75.00, and it does the job for me. if you want more options like sirius xm and bluetooth and whatnot, there are higher versions of the CDE you can buy, for more expensive of course. easy to install, i picked up a kit from target to be honest that included the wiring harness and the plastic din adapter. took me about an hour, and it does the job for me

I have been thinking about upgrading my stock head unit and speakers as well. It does not sound very good right now and with the top off it is almost useless. I assume the issue is going to be the speakers more than head unit but not sure. I do not know much about the stereos but would it be better to upgrade speakers first then head unit, or head unit then speakers, or do them all at the same time. Also, I know adding an amp with new head unit and speakers is a plus but space is an issue, not sure where I would put an amp to be honest - back seat goes in and out, gun vault under driver seat. Thanks for the help and information.

i did my head unit and sound bar speakers at the same time. i put polk audio dxi 525's in, they sound pretty good. im getting one of those low profile self amplified subwoofers to mount under the back seat, and i gotta change out the 4x6's in the front when i get around to it. once i have that done i think its gonna sound plenty good for my needs

You can fit an amp under one on the front seats or mount it to the tailgate if the back seat isn't an option
