Air Conditioning

I'm looking for some suggestions on fixing my air conditioning. I recently purchased my 98 sport and the a/c upon first inspection the compressor kicked on and off and didn't come back on. 2 days later I was looking at it again and the A/C compressor kicked on and off/ on and off/ on and off and so forth. So I recharged it with a diy can. The a/c compressor stayed on and worked decently, air wasn't that cold but was working. Today the a/c was working, well decently, and suddenly the a/c was no longer working. It seems that the A/C compressor is working as it pleases, I haven't checked the pressure yet, but I assume its fine.

Please keep in mind the first time I checked it, it wouldn't work, than 2 days later it suddenly worked..

Mine was doing the same thing. To check if it's the clutch get a hammer and tap the front of the compressor. If comes on and goes back off its your clutch.

Well today, I started the jeep and turned on A/C to test the pressure. A/c Works just fine and the pressure was the same. Wouldn't that likely mean my a/c compressor is junk?

NO. Could be something as simple as a bad low or high pressure switch, blocked orifice, could even still be low on freon(need gauges to check)

32 psi on the low side, and over 150 on the high, at a fast idle speed is about right.

And if it is the clutch, most are replaceable separately.

Well, its the clutch. When I hit it with something it comes on. You mentioned the clutch can be replaced without the whole compressor? Please give me more information, and if anyone has fixed this what did it cost you?

Go to the autoparts store and buy a new clutch, you'll probably need a special tool to remove the old one, which the store should have, maybe even as a loaner. IF that's the issue.
