All I want for christmas is a my heater to work.

Hi Everyone,

I hope someone can help. I on my last thread here (no pun intended).

Problem: Heat present. No fan (blower motor operation)

The timeline of events:

1. Fan goes out. January 2009.
2. Checked all fuses, relays, and resistors.
3. Installed new relay. Did not work.
4. Installed new fuse. Did not work.
5. Installed new switch. Worked!!!
6. Fan went out. 3 days later, awesome.
7. Summer arrived, Fan begins working.
8. Remain perplexed.
9. August 2009. Begin smelling burning plastic. Fan goes out.
10. Today, Buy a new resistor and excitingly install it. Does not work.

The only thing I can think of is that the switch needs replaced again. I blew the last replacement...so will that happen again if since I put in a new resistor?

When the fan is running. It runs without noise, etc. perfectly. So i feel the motor itself is in good order.

Any insight would be great, Thanks!

x2... there is one or more threads here that could use this info. A long with that, the people looking into lighting should look into/think about relays. There are more write-ups from other mag's that explain wiring and info/part numbers.

Theres no thinking, relays are a must do in my book. They are cheap and easy to wire up.

Wow, I've already had a melted speed switch connector in my Jeep replaced and my heater is acting up again. That makes me pretty nervous. I'm tearing into the dash tomorrow. lol

So to summarize, engine wear can eventually lead to loss of blower power?

I just got my Jeep a year ago, started driving local beaches, and now the 1st 3 levels of the blower dont work (only the highest level works).

Is there a risk in not fixing this? I also get a burning plastic smell when I am in 4x4 low trying to get out of soft sand.
