all this skid plate talk

with every1 talkin skid plates lately i got thinkin.... would it not be a lot cheaper (and not that hard) to weld up custom plates instead? how heavy duty you think they would have to be.... was thinking maybe some some rebar/angle irons/plate steel could do nicely......

any1 have any thoughs i dont know too much about skids other than that i want them too but cant afford them.

Weld plates on so that you cant access whats behind them later? What happens when its time for maintenance? .02

theres lots of write ups on it. Scotch740 did a nice write up over on JF, with drawings and dimensions.

if you have a welder its not a bad way to go...but i think by the time your done with fitment issues and working on the kinks you will have saved lots of time and money by just buying it from UCF or Rokmen. besides, have you seen the price of steel lately?!

3/16" is as heavy as you need for a skidplate.
