So ive been looking to get a set of D rings for my new bumper, and the company that I got my bumper from sells D rings, the down side is that their close to $50 a piece. So while reading the comments and reviews, I notice that their made in China… So I begin to look at other companies, and most everything I can find says made in China. A good amount of them have good reviews, but should I trust a China made product, or is there a company that makes decently pieced D rings made in the U.S.A.?
I got lucky with my d rings. I work construction and we aren't allowed to use any rigging that is not American made. So, my boss happened to accidentally or an extra set of 3/4 inch shackles.
If you can find a USA made one.. if I recall correctly its fail rating should be 3x its printed working limit... not sure the foreign ones work that way or not..
I've noticed in the off roading world they call them d rings but in construction they are called shackles. You may have a bit more luck on tool or construction websites searching for 3/4 inch shackles. They are the same thing.
On all USA made shackles the WLL(working load limit) is 1/3 of what it can actually hold new and undamaged. They do this so people pushing the stated capacity have a safety net or in case other rigging fails while making a lift.
Happy to help. Is there a thread where people can go to find strictly USA made products? I know odds and ends can be a pain if you don't know exactly where to look.
Probably not, as long as their not contracted from China.
