another death wobble thread after budget boost

after my 2 inch budget boost my death wobble got noticeable.

i got a new monroe steering stabilizer and it fixed it for a while. but now its back.

my track bar looks fine and is tight. but should i be able to rotate my drag link by hand??? also the drag link has the grease zirc broken off down where it connects to the spindle i believe is what that is.

could that be causing the wobble?

and also where the tie rod connects to the (spindle?) for the driver side wheel the nut that holds that on is loose and it doesnt tighten anymore. is it supposed to do that?

Did you do an alignment after you installed the BB?

no i did not i called a few shops and they told me just to get a steering stabilizer.

Oh Lord, you need to call different shops. Go get an alignment before you do anything else or do it yourself. Even a budget boost requires an alignment after it's installed.

Also if your steering is setup properly you probably don't even need a steering stabilizer. Steering stabilizers are just masking your problem.

I would check the alignment. It's really easy to do your own alignment on a Jeep. Here is a couple links

ive never aligned anything before but that doesnt look too hard. so i take it i would only need to align the front? and should i attempt aligning it myself or would it be better to just take it in and pay to have it done?

If you can follow those simple instructions you can align it yourself. Mines running 33's on a 3" Full Traction lift. It has never seen an alignment shop and drives straight and smooth at 80. Tires wear is also very good 39K so far on Mickey Thompson MTZ's.

It helps to have a friend hold the tape measure though.

Try it out before paying the shop. Worst case is you cant do it and you end up taking it to a shop. Which you were already going to do anyhow.

I just did the alignment using 4x4s instructions. I went to a shop since i did not have a pipe wrench strong enough to spin my rusty tie rod but it was easy. Make sure you have some one to help you hold the measuring tape though. My toe was 1" difference. Distance in front of the front tire was 1" less than the distance in the back of the front tire.

I went mudding last week and this week the death wobble was insane. I couldn't go over 30mph.

Got the tires balanced ($10 each tire) and VUA LA!!!

I'm back in the rodeo baby and my Jeep isn't trying to buck me off anymore.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!

You should not have any loose nuts bolts or the like either.. Get that fixed as well. I don't have a steering stabilzer. I did have DW, did the self align, but still needed to have the tires balanced. Which was the final step for me.
