Another tire size question for a LJ

I am trying to figure out how big of a tire I can fit on a 05 LJ that has a 1 inch body lift and aftermarket Barricade flat fenders, (like these) Barricade Wrangler Black Flat Fender Flare Set J102429 (97-06 Wrangler TJ) - Free Shipping and Barricade 16 inch rims with 4.5 inch backspacing (like these) Mammoth Wrangler Bead Lock Style Charcoal Wheel J100625 (87-06 Wrangler YJ & TJ) - Free Shipping

I am building this Jeep for my niece who will be turning 16 in a few months.

In the end the LJ will have 33 inch tires and a 3 inch lift kit but for now I'm looking to just add the 33 inch tires with the above parts and save the lift kit for a year or so from now, my concern is that my niece will be a newly licensed driver with no real experience with driving a lifted vehicle and I figure she can get some experience with it with the BL and 33 inch tires and do the lift later, although she has been practicing driving it in parking lots and is familiar with it in stock 30 inch form.

I would like to put the 33 inch tires on it for her since the LJ looks better with taller tires. She likes the lifted, big tire look too.

She won't be doing any 4 wheeling with it, just using it on road for school and the mall so there won't be any real articulation of the suspension.

So do you think the 33's will work with a street vehicle with the BL, fenders and rims or is that too tall ? From what I have read I'm pretty sure 31's will work but I don't want to have to buy a set of 31's now and then another set of 33's in a year to go with the 3 inch lift.

Any one have any experience with a set up similar to this ?

Thanks for any help

2" lift and 1" body lift fit 285/75-16. Buy the BFG KO2 which run a little small (and are great DD tires). The 2" JKS lift drives great and have no problems putting my 16yr old in it.

I have no proof but Not sure how a 33 or metric equivalent would fit with out the lift even with the flat flares. I think you'd need high line fender to make them fit. Check pics in my signature to see how they fit our jeep.

In reality the barricade flat fenders will only give maybe an extra inch of clearance over the stock fenders. The 4.5" back spacing on the wheels would work okay for 11" wide tires, but would be too much back space for anything wider. Many people running 16" wheels, use 305/70r16 tires which measure out to roughly 33x12". As mentioned above, a small suspension lift .. 2", coupled with a small body lift..1" would be perfect for what you are trying to accomplish.

You should consider sticking to a 15" rim. You can buy tires in the proper load range (c rather than d or e) to provide a nicer ride, and they are much less expensive when it's time for tires.

I went to 16" rims several years ago, and the last time I bought tires, I also went back to 15" rims.

Thanks for the info and suggestions

So now I'm thinking of leaving the body lift on the shelf and just going with the flat fenders that I already bought and using a 3 inch suspension lift (like this one) Rubicon Express 3.5" Super-Flexâ„¢ Suspension System for 97-06 Jeep® Wrangler TJ & Unlimited | Quadratec and getting 15 inch rims with these tires GeneralÂ*Grabber AT 2

I also already have a new aftermarket front bumper with a winch and aftermarket rear bumper with a tire carrier so the added weight should reduce the height a little.

Good parts match for a LJ that shouldn't be too tall ?
