antifreeze

My jeep has been running a little warm. The gauge reads normal but the thing is to hot I believe (I can barely grab the hood rod) so i was going to flush the system and a new t stat. After that can I put the old green stuff in instead of the hoat that came in it.

May or may not make a difference, probably wont, but preventive maintenance never hurts. Things get hot under the hood, its 200 plus freaking degrees in there, and the exhaust will get even hotter. The hood rod is directly above the rad and its usually too hot to just grab once the engine has been running. What makes you think its hot? Never heard of a prop rod being too hot to tuch as a way to determine the engine is too hot.

does your dad's 2000 have two catalytic converters sitting directly under the intake manifold like your 2005 does?
