It is absolutely 100% impossible for coolant/antifreeze to blow out of the back of the a/c compressor, there is no coolant/antifreeze in the a/c system. You're either seeing refrigerant blow out of the a/c compressor or you're looking at something else that isn't the a/c compressor.

That is dye. Same color I had when I went to charge my system after purchasing and had a leak.

It's blowing out every 10 seconds because your compressor is kicking on. This will happen until the pressure in the system is too low to kick it on - which will be shortly after your can of freon you are charging it with is empty.

very possible. it's that flourescent stuff right? i was thinking that but it's so close in color to coolant/anti freeze. plus i wasn't sure if the coolant pump was somehow hooked up through the AC compressor.

recovered the refrigerant, pulled a vacuum and weighed in the factory charge. works like a charm now. still wish i didn't have the dye in the system.i've been doing HVAC for 9 years and never needed to use it(plus a lot of manufacturers won't warranty a compressor if they find anything but refrigerant/oil in it). i alwys used my leak detector or nitrogen and bubbles.
thanks for the responses guys. i'm not a big car person and wasn't sure if the coolant was somehow tied into the compressor housing. i saw green and lost my head.

Some brands of PAG oil are green.

The compressor's relief valve may be leaking.

If you dont mind me asking, how exactly did you "recover" the refrigerant? not being a smart ass. Ive heard this term and wanted to know exactly what it meant/entailed...

Turtles, you use a recovery/charging system. Connects to the system and evacuates the freon into a tank. The system also removes the oil from the system. It will tell you how much freon and oil was removed. When the work is done on the a/c unit, you use the same system to recharge it. By law you are not allowed to vent freon to the atmosphere.

what Shelby said. used a recovery machine which pumps the refrigerant into a recovery cylinder/tank. i pulled a vacuum(evacuated) and i charged it with new 134a because i dislike the idea of having anything other than refrigerant and oil in the system. i may not have eliminated all of the dye but the less the better.

thanks guys.i panicked. i saw green and freaked out.
