Question Any luck trimming/cutting stock flares?

I'm debating buying the xenon flat fender flares, or cutting mine. I'm a diy kind of guy so if it is possible and looks good I'm willing to try. So if anyone has any pictures to give me an idea, that would be awesome!

It's easy.... If you search trimmed flares you'll find tons of pics. Razor knife and some sand paper are all you need. Mark, score, bend, peel, smooth.... Mark them less than you think you want to take off, it's easier to take off more than put it back..

I just trimmed my 6.5" Warn trail flares today. I'm very happy with the look, I need to get a picture when it's light out.

Here's my trimmed flares hope the pics are light enough

This is the best way for me so I will stop getting pulled over for not having wide enough flares.

I am considering doing the same. I bought the wide flares like those to go on mine last year, didn't really like the look so I put the stock ones back on. Now I have a lift and bigger tires and want to cut the wide ones like that. It gets old after awhile cleaning the inside every time I go through some mud. Did you use the razor knife method and how much did you cut?? Have you took it out on the highway to see if they flap a lot??

Yeah I just used a razor blade while it was hot out. I cut off 1.5" using a piece of steel angle as a guide. I then cut the bottom edges at a 45 degree angle. They have not flapped at all, and they are pretty flexible.

I used to swith between the wide ones and my stockers for inspections, but got tired of all the work it takes to switch!

I don't know. I would be worried about the paint flaking. You could always try it on the very edge and see what happens,

Dealer, fronts are less than $8 for the pair. The rear are a fair amount more. I left my rears on, since they do protect the tub back there.

just cut your fenders and add cj7 lights in the "grill" lots of metal cutting if you have the skills but it will change your jeeps stance bigtime. Those Plastic flares are worthless and hideous anyways
