powder coat cost 75 a wheel, and I can get soft 8s for cheaper than that.

Prep is key.

Prep wheels by degreasing, then slight roughing of surface with Scotchbrite pads, then rewash, dry, get loose crap off with tack cloth. Spray primer (1-2 coats light coats should be fine.)

Some people then rough the primer and tack cloth again, some do not. I don't think its necessary.

Spray color (3-5 LIGHT coats). Lighter coats don't give you runs, and will yield better finished results IMO.

Spray ~2 coats of clear.

Let it dry 24hrs after last coat before driving on let the paint cure a little. I'd personally be careful for 3-5 days...depending on your weather.

Follow directions on spray cans as far as time between coats.

A good, lasting coat requires good prep work. oh and have I mentioned Prep work is key?
