Anyone.... Fuel sending unit?

I live in the wonderful northeast where the salt and calcium on the roads eats EVERYTHING. So I'm in the process of collecting parts to replace the fuel tank skid plate, straps, rear shocks, and possibly fuel sending unit. Anyone ever changed the sending unit before? Worth doing? How is it connected; metal lines or plastic clips?
I plan on buying all Mopar (besides shocks) from Quadratec within the next couple days. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Build date Feb 1999.

Its attached to the pump inside the tank, safe from the horrors you describe!! Unless your gauge is reading screwy or your that bored, I wouldn't mess with it...

O ic. Aren't the fuel filters in there somewhere? On the sending unit? I figured it would be a good idea to change them while i had the tank down.

Your gas gauge sender is tack welded to the fuel pump. The main fuel filter is inside the fuel pressure regulator that sits on top of the fuel pump. The fuel pressure regulator is external to the gas tank, the fuel pump sits inside the tank.

And if you take that whole unit out of the tank don't pull all your hair out trying to screw in back in on the 1.5 threads!

Isn't there any place else on your list of parts places besides QT?

For the op, make sure you carefully disconnect all the lines before dropping the tank completely, I broke a plastic fitting on my sending unit and it was quite costly to replace.

Find the part numbers, punch them in to ebay....ebay is your friend on price.

Crown is good for genuine MOPAR parts and prices are better. They don't carry everything but what they do have is real. I have a number here, somewhere, for discount on MOPAR parts - when I find I'll post it for everyone.
