Well I am getting the bug to build another jeep. I have had 3. First one was a 2000 Tj. Then I ant to an 05 Willys edition Tj then on to a 2012 jku rubicon. I like my jk but I have a lot invested in it. I was thinking of selling it and paying some things off and possibly building another Tj or a lj. Has anyone sold their jk and went back and regretted it. It isn't a daily driver and I don't wheel much. Just like taking the top off and driving it on nice days.

I'm thinking of heading in the other direction - just for the interior room.

I had a 2015 JKU but it had 2.73 gears and an automatic. I missed driving a real car and decided to trade it in on a Mustang and buy an older TJ (2004). I really loved the four door, it was awesome to haul everything around it. I'm a little anal about keeping my stuff nice and was always worried about getting the brand new Jeep dirty on the inside. I took the top off frequently and the doors of quite a bit as well, but it sucked having to put everything back together to drive to work on Monday. I was going to purchase an older car, something to play with and use as my daily driver so I could leave the Jeep in the garage except for when we did "Jeep stuff" with it. I really like the TJ, but it's an acquired taste. The JKU was the first Jeep I ever had so it was quite the culture shock going from a brand new JKU to a TJ, but I've transitioned nicely. Believe it or not, I still drive the Jeep more than the Mustang.

Shortly after I did the swap, I regretted it and thought about selling both and going back to a new four door, however, I think I would be a little better about the TJ getting dirty when doing "Jeep stuff" than I was with the JKU. I do miss the space and I do miss the niceness of the new vehicle, bigger, no rattles, shakes, etc, but at the end of the day, I think I'm more comfortable using the TJ as a Jeep than I would be with the brand new JKU. I wish I wasn't like that, but unfortunately, I am who I am.

I've decided (for now) to move forward with the plan to get a 2" OME lift and run 32s. That should be pretty okay for what I need. I will also get a front bumper and winch and for the most part, be done. I may go back to a four door, but if the TJ is doing well and gets us where we need to go and back, then I may just decide to keep her and not get the four door. Kids are older and will be gone soon so it's not like we really NEED the additional space much longer. Although, we are going to Gulches in July, so this should be an interesting trip for two adults, a 17yr old and 14yr old. 600 mile trip one way lol, at least I'm driving and not folded up in the back seat :)

If I had a time machine and could travel back in time, I would have kept the four door, lifted it and put 33s on it along with 4.56s and bought a cheap car to use as a daily driver, however, I'm not going to go out of my way to make it happen. For now.

Sorry for the novel, just wanted to provide the whole story.

Good luck!

I like my 15 so much I bought an 06 currently building for the rubicon trail, scared to beat up the new one yet, but I would not get rid of my new one for the older one. I have 3 kids all under 8 though so I need 5 seats...

After a '99 TJ Sport, '04 Rubicon and '05 Unlimited, I had a '12 JKU Sport with a full AEV fit-up and an '11 JK Rubicon. This spring I traded the '11 with only 15k miles for another '05 Unlimited with 119k miles and couldn't be happier. That said, I only have a 6 mile commute and we have a very capable family vehicle for longer trips. I'm much happier having something easy to work on and with much less expensive aftermarket parts.
