No..

Get another 6.5" sub from somewhere else (partsexpress.com) and modify the sub housing to fit (shouldn't need much). Total cost should be $30-$40.

Nope, it's not worth it. It doesn't sound that great and mine blew after about 3 weeks . Quadratec had the manufacturer send me a new one but I also picked up the Pyramid WX65X 6.5 in. woofer from Barnes & Noble online of all places. After shipping it was about $15. It was recommended on this forum by a bunch of guys in another thread. Once this second one goes, I'll put that one in.

i went with a piramid 300w sub. its a 6 1/2. it sounds great. holes almost lined up and i did not drill new holes so lil air leaks out but its a jeep and does not need to be thumping hard but it still hits. if i drilled the holes and seal it it would be great. I got it from barnes and nobles on line for like 15 bucks. im not complaining on the price then the whole replacement from quadratec.

Look into the kicker comp cvt 6.5 sub! I modified my sound bar and put two in sounds great, I'm sure if I had them in sub boxes they'd be even better! I think there's a wrote up on here of someone using them in place of factory sub

My replacement Quadratec speaker blew out today. 2 speakers in about 2 months. I don't even get the radio crankin'!?! UGH what a piece of &^%*!!!! For $90 that thing should sound amazing and be virtually indestructible. Time to get a refund and switch to the Pyramid.

Anyone have a schematic handy? What are the specs on the factory unit? For all we know the Quadratec unit might not even have the same resistance rating for a direct swap. Of course, it should...

I have the kicker 6.5. I had to cut plastic peaces out of the factory box. I sealed up up real tight and put polly-fill in it. It is a good improvement over stock, but it won't shack the room.

I just did this a month or so ago. You need to take the whole console out. There's two screws under the cup holders and two in the rear cup holders. Once you get them out, you need to wiggle it loose. Then when you get it out, there's an enclosure contained inside the console which holds the sub. There's a write up either on here or jeep forum. Just follow it and it's a breeze.

I hooked up the Kicker 6.5 CVT. You need to pay attention to the wiring to get the optimal sound. The factory unit is 1 ohm, while the Kicker was 2 ohm. I forget off the top of my head which wires I used, but I found them searching the forums.

Hope this helps.

So got the ceter consol out no problem. Got the sub ebcloser out no problem. I go to look at the sub BLOWN! So i pull the sub tape off the wires and reinstall everything. They my mind went way back to when i was like 17 and i had a sub in my VW long story short. Got a hole in the cone of the sub and used nail polish to patch it up. So thats how i spend my afternoon. Putting nail polish on my blown 6.5in stock subwoofer. Good day huh!? So attached is a pic of it peiced back together. Sounds SOOOOO much better than b4.

I went with a kicker as well with an amp attached to it. The other writenup on this forum says uncannuse the pyramid one without modification maybe drill new holes to secure sub. Quadratec one def not worth it.
