I did some work on the differential this week and on my last 4wd trip I was asked by multiple people if I had a limited slip. Mind you these guys are all very knowledgeable of jeeps. But if any one can determine anything about my diff from these pics it would really help.

I knew that much and that it has 4.11 gears I'm trying to see if its actually a limited slip. I went up to my property in the country and did a few born outs and made two straight lines so from what I know it acts like a limited slip but I don't know if it looks like one or not

if they ask again just tell them you have an open diff. an open diff is basically sayin you have spider gears. which are the small gears in the center of your carier. limited slip is a type of locker (sort of)

Easy way to check without opening the pumpkin is to jack up the rear and spin a tire. If both tires spin in the same direction, you have a functioning LSD or Locker of some kind. An open diff will cause the other wheel/tire to spin in the opposite direction than the one you are spinning...

Also you should be able to see the clutch packs behind the side gears, we can't see them from the angle you took the picture though.

Oh my bad if that sounded like it was supposed to be rude I had no intention of that. But thanks to everyone who posted it really helps now I don't have to buy one even if it isn't my first choice in lsd's its better than nothing
